Parishioners (who are middle school students or older) may serve as Lectors. These men and women proclaim the Word of God at Mass and other liturgical celebration. Lectors serve at daily and weekend Masses. A lector’s service is based on a schedule that is provided each month.
When the Sacred Scriptures are read in the Church, God himself speaks to his people, and Christ, present in his word, proclaims the Gospel. Therefore, the readings from the Word of God are to be listened to reverently by everyone, for they are an element of the greatest importance in the Liturgy.
Eucharistic ministers are men and women of the parish who have completed the sacrament of initiation and have been commissioned to distribute Holy Communion at Mass. Eucharistic Ministers serve at weekend Masses and also take the Eucharist to residents of nursing homes and to other homebound parishioners. Eucharistic Ministers serve based on a schedule that is provided each month.
Parish children are eligible to serve as Altar Server once they have received the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. All are required to attend training sessions after which they are installed in the ministry. Altar Servers serve based on a schedule that is provided each month. They must be able to serve when scheduled. Adult Servers are invited to minister at the Weekday Masses.
If you are interested in being an Adult Server at other worship sites, please contact one of the parish office centers at 724-627-7568 or 724-966-7270.
